Baby Shower Game Ideas – Fun Ideas For A Co-ed Baby Shower

Baby-Shower-Game-Ideas

Traditionally, baby showers were originally intended for women to gather and celebrate the pregnancy of another woman and welcome her into motherhood.

Today, the more popular idea is to have co-ed baby showers that allow both mom and dad to celebrate with all their friends and spouses. Cue the groans and eye rolls from all the husbands at this point. This is typically the reaction you would expect from a man as his wife drags him to her friend’s baby shower. Am I right?

Now I know, a baby shower isn’t top pick over watching a sports game, but don’t worry husbands, because I have provided the ultimate list of fun-filled baby shower game ideas, that are a guaranteed great time for both sexes.

So, before you dig your heels in and beg your partner to make up some excuse as to how you suddenly contracted the worst case of the runs last minute, you could actually find yourself enjoying these games and even a little healthy competition.

Anyways, enough about the husbands, if you’re reading this, it’s safe to assume you are looking to plan a co-ed baby shower, and as the planner, the stress of entertaining your guests falls mostly on you.

Well, don’t stress, because with this list, you’ll find it’s the perfect way to entertain large groups of both men and women and get them to all join in on the fun, and the best news is, most of these ideas don’t require much planning either! So without further ado, let’s get into it.

#1. Don’t Say…

Baby-Shower-Game-Ideas

The first game on our list isn’t necessarily a new idea, but it’s a great game for both sexes to be involved in, and it’s very versatile, so you can set the rules to be whatever you want them to be.

What You’ll Need:

  • Clothespins

That’s right, all you need for this game is clothespins, and depending on your guest list, you may need a lot of them!

How To Play:

To play this game, pick a list of 5-10 words that you would typically hear people say at a baby shower (baby, due date, boy, girl, etc.) Come up with a list of words, and these are now words that no one can use for the rest of the baby shower.

Give your guests 5-10 clothespins (1 clothespin per forbidden word), and every time they are caught using one of the forbidden words, they must hand over a clothespin to whoever catches them using the word.

By the end of the baby shower, whoever has the most clothespins wins.

To make this game even more applicable to both sexes, you can make it a boys vs. girls competition, where the boys have a certain list of forbidden words and the women have a certain list of forbidden words, than at the end of the shower you can pick both a female winner and a male winner.

You can also choose to have the same list of words for everyone. That’s the beauty of this game, it’s really whatever you make it!

#2. Blindfolded Diaper Change

This game is a really fun and interactive game that is fun for both sexes to play. You’re guaranteed to get some laughter out of this one!

What You’ll Need:

  • Diapers (You can save these and use them for your new baby)
  • Dolls/Stuffed Animals
  • Blindfold

How To Play:

There are two ways to play this game.

Version 1

Set up a station of 2 or more dolls/stuffed animals and a stack of diapers per doll. Blindfold the contestants, and set a timer. Upon yelling “Go!” start the timer and have each contestant put diapers on the dolls, and then take them off, the person who does the most diaper changes in a minute wins!

Version 2

Set up a station of 2 or more dolls/stuffed animals (1 per contestant) and give each blindfolded contestant a diaper. Upon yelling “Go!” whoever puts the diaper on the fastest wins.

You can play this game however you would like, you could make a team of boys vs girls and whoever has the most diapers changed per team wins, or you could do individual races, it’s up to you and it’s fun for everyone involved. Be prepared for some heavy competition!

Baby-Shower-Game-Ideas

This is a game of guessing and it can be really fun!

What You’ll Need:

How To Play:

To play this game, it will require a little bit of prepping on your end.

  1. Before your guests arrive, you will need to unwrap and microwave 4-5 different kinds of chocolate candy bars separately Make sure to label them so you know which is which.
  2. Then transfer each of the melted candy bars into a diaper, one candy bar per diaper (it looks like poo, get it?)
  3. Place the diapers on a table and leave a jar of pens and a stack of paper by them
  4. Have each guest fill out a piece of paper matching each candy bar to each diaper

Whoever gets the most matches wins!

*If you want to make it really hard, don’t tell them any of the candy bars you used.

Baby-Shower-Game-Ideas

What You’ll Need:

  • 4-5 Jars of Baby Food
  • Plastic Spoons
  • Pens & Paper

How To Play:

The rules of this game are pretty self-explanatory. Simply label the lids of each jar with a number and write a note down for yourself which number is what food. Then remove all the labels and place the jars on a table. Have your guests sample the baby food and write down what food they think each jar contains. The person who guesses the most correctly wins!

*Bonus Round Minute-To-Win-It*

If you really want to heat up the competition, you can use some of these ideas to create a relay race. A relay that I like to call Minute-To-Win-It.

This will consist of four different challenges:

  • Blindfolded Diaper Change (Version 1)
  • Diaper Stacking
  • Suck It Up
  • Chug The Bottle

How To Play:

  1. Start with 4 guests and set the timer for 1 minute
  2. Upon saying “go!” all 4 contestants will complete the blindfolded diaper change
  3. When the timer stops, the person who has changed the least amount of diapers will be eliminated, and the 3 others will move on to complete the next challenge, Diaper Stacking.
  4. Continues this cycle of eliminating the person who accomplishes the least, through all 4 challenges until you have a winner!
